Jack attended his second Cotillion Class tonight. He goes once a month with about 100 other 6th graders from the area. To this Yankee mom, I am convinced this is as close to becoming a true southerner that I can get! Think of it as an etiquette/behavior/social club. The kids are with classmates and friends and they do not even know they are learning!
They have monthly homework and must dress up every month. Next month is their first dance. The Thanksgiving Ball.
Jack was very excited tonight as it was the first time they got to dance with the girls. He was very excited and was taught how to ask a girl to dance. He danced the Foxtrot and box step with Julian Masters and Olivia Lininger. Then, they escort their partner to the buffet and have learned how to help her get her plate and how to get the "couple" back to their seats. He said he was to ask her if she would like anything else and then throw away her cup and plate. It is a program that will be built on for the next 3 years. My favorite part is the exit when they must thank their guests for a good time and give at least one compliment about the event. Jack is so funny, he said, " The Goldfish were good." Such a great learning experience and practice with the girls in his class.
Here are some pix!!
Some of the gentlemen before class
Getting ready to escort one of the girls into the event
Jack and Dylan
All the boys
Too cute in their blue blazers and ties
Ready to enter!!
Jack escorts into the hall. See the girls? They must wear white gloves for the whole class....(except when eating!!)
Waiting to greet the hosts...he looks in control, eh?
The couples...I LOVE 6th graders!
Greeting their hosts. He is learning how to introduce himself and his friend
Turning in homework and signing in!
And they take their seats for class
I watched as he talked to Alyssa. She is a student at Springfield Middle School.
